The Four Fits were organized as a "Quartet of the Month" which was a Grosse Pointe Chapter program, back in 1961. The original tenor was John Prost, a brand new member. Burke also had no prior quartet experience.
The following year the Four Fits won the Chapter's Quartet of the Year honor and ventured to Boyne City where they won the Bush League title on their first attempt. In 1963 John Wearing replaced Prost on tenor. In just 6 weeks with Wearing, they missed qualifying for International by less than 10 points.
In 1965 they won the District Championship. The Four Fits represented the Pioneer District at International 4 times with their final International appearance in 1975 after Thom Hine had replaced Ray McCalpin on bari.
An unusually close foursome, John, Russ, and Marv sang and presented Ray's eulogy when he passed away in 1995. This quartet also boasts two members of the Pioneer Hall of Fame, John and Russ.
Russ is a past President of the Pioneer Quartet Champions Association. Seely is also a Past District President as well as a Past International Board Member.
